FAMILY NUTRITION: FAMILY GARDENS AND POULTRY FARMING
Faced with the critical situation of poverty and lack of food that affects 24% of the Panamanian population, the Puertas Abiertas (Open Doors) Foundation initiates the Sustainable Families program.
The goal of this program is to assist people living in extreme poverty by giving them the tools, knowledge and support needed to produce their own food and achieve healthy nutrition.
The program is based on vegetable gardening and poultry farming, on their family plots. The Foundation provides the materials, supplies and support required to start and sustain it.
Each family receives 3 days of training throughout the process and they are guided by specialized technical personnel for up to 4 months, so that they can successfully achieve the proposed objectives.
In a joint effort with the private and government sectors, as well as supportive citizens and volunteers, More than 250 families and 1,337 people from October 2021 to date have overcome hunger and despair.

TALENPRO
The Puertas Abiertas Foundation seeks, through the TALENPRO competition, to sensitize young students and motivate them to become agents of social change. By recognizing their abilities and personal capacities, through a process of individual and social reflection with a repeatable practical experience model and replicable by other groups of students, the primary goal is reached. In order to encourage young people in this effort, the President of the Foundation, Erika Ender creates this innovative strategy: A great student competition of artistic talents TalenPro(Talent with a Purpose), where young artists/contestants, must involve and commit their classmates and teachers in a theoretical and practical training program, including a social service, which will also be part of the evaluation forthe great national contest.
TalenPro Challenge
The Talenpro Challenge youth initiative, by the (Open Doors) Foundation of Erika Ender, was a complete success!
Thanks to our talented young people, mentors and the support of the entire country, we not only fully complied with our commitment of feeding 1,500 children under 5 years of age nationwide, for 3 consecutive months, but surpassed our goal by benefiting a total of 3,788 children, within the framework of the social program: “Nutritional Baskets for Early Childhood”.
Early Childhood Nutrition
The Foundation carried out the program: "Nutrition for Early Childhood", in a humanitarian response to the needs of children, at risk of malnutrition, duringthe CoVid19. The program has benefited 3,788 children from 0 to 5 years old.
To extend aid for 3 consecutive months to 12 areas of the country, we activated the platform of our project Talenpro (Talent with a Purpose), through theTALENPRO CHALLENGE; a solidarity challenge that emerged from social networks, between the young people of TalenPro and Panamanian Personalities, to add donations.
